"Thirty Years... An accomplishment worth celebrating!"
Truly, what began as a noble initiative born out of then President
Lyndon B. Johnson’s war on poverty, Teche Action Clinic as a
community health center has withstood the tests of time and has evolved
into what the Institute of Medicine (IOM) has recognized as the best venue
to deliver all the elements that represents the best health care in
America.
Teche Action Clinic has been on the “cutting edge” in the
delivery of health care in Louisiana with many firsts: the first Community
Health Center, the first to achieve JCAHO, the first residency affiliation,
the first to assume a public health unit, a pilot program on prevention,
the first to have a Nurse Practitioner, the first to have a Diabetic
Educator. TAC stands proudly on its past accomplishments; works continuously
on improving its present services; and plans ambitiously to expand medical
care to surrounding parishes. Indeed as TAC stands on the threshold of even
greater achievements, we promise to hold true to our mission and vision of
providing access to quality, culturally competent, primary and preventive
care in a barrier free environment.
